Extreme Machining Contest Winners

By Derek Korn

The inaugural edition of Mori Seiki’s Innovation of the Americas contest took place in 2006. Winning entries in that contest ranged from a tiny Jeep replica, which was made from three materials, to a titanium splice plate for a Boeing 737 winglet. Click here to  find photos of the first- and second-place winners in four categories from the 2006 contest. The categories include aerospace, automotive, die/mold and general parts.

Entry applications are now open for the 2008 edition of the contest. Visit Mori Seiki (www.moriseikius.com/iofa) to read the submission instructions and to apply online. The deadline to enter is June 30, 2008.
