Similar to a camera, the system views the object, snaps images and merges those images to create an STL/polygon mesh 3D model. Intelligent algorithms enable the software to process scan data with increased point density where critical features such as holes, edges, radii and others exist. This feature enhances downstream data processing by reducing the manual time required to create a solid model. The 3D scanner can save time and money in reverse engineering and rapid manufacturing applications, the company says.
