Available from Lagun Engineering Solutions, the Geminis Transformer system is designed to minimize downtime and maximize production on turning centers. The system enables operators to quickly and easily swap out accessory machining devices on a CNC lathe while the part remains in its original setup. The ability to perform milling, boring and grinding on a lathe eliminates the need to move the workpiece to a secondary machine for additional operations and promotes precision on the finished part.
According to the supplier, an operator can change devices in as little as 15 min. using the Transformer system, reducing the time needed to complete the job. The desired machining device is attached to an overhead crane or forklift using a standard eye-bolt configuration, and moved above the docking station. Once the device is lowered into place, a four-point hydraulic clamping module engages with the press of a button. All electrics, hydraulics and coolant connections are linked with a quick-switch coupling and a data cable, which enables the device to communicate with the primary control panel.
The Transformer system is available as an option on all new Geminis CNC lathes.
