Aeroel MecLab.X Measures Cylindrical Parts in Shop Environment

The Aeroel MecLab.X laser micrometer, available from Marposs, provides high-accuracy diameter measurements for components such as electric motor shafts, gage or piston pins, hydraulic components, and other ground or turned parts. The benchtop system does not require a PC and is designed for shop-floor applications.

The off-line benchtop gage can check components with different shapes and sizes without requiring resetting or remastering, according to Marposs. It measures the part diameter and the position of the part axis or the positions of the part, all referred to the center of the measuring field. The device checks tolerance by comparing actual dimensions to the programmed limits. The gage is said to eliminate measuring drift due to changing room temperatures.

The gage’s CE-200 operator interface panel features integrated touch-sensitive keyboard and large LCD screen. The device includes three measuring modes: Free Running, On-Comm and Single Shot, and On-Command Continuous. All results are stored in memory and can be downloaded to a remote computer.

The device is available in two styles. The MecLab.X40 has a measuring field of up to 40 mm and can measure diameters ranging from 0.06 to 38 mm with single-shot repeatability of ±1.5 microns. The MecLab.X80 has a measuring field of up 80 mm and can measure diameters ranging from 0.75 to 78 mm with a single-shot repeatability of ±3.5 microns. The two models feature accuracies of ±0.5 and ±2 microns, respectively.

A third version, the Meclab.X-S, features a flat granite base with a precision linear stage to mount holding accessories and to move the part.
