The Silo Column uses a tombstone-like design enabling enables manufactures to affordably develop workholding for a number of parts, the company says. The system uses a light-weight main structure designed using finite element analysis and constructed of steel. Tooling plates mount on each side of the structure and are available in steel and aluminum with plain face, standard grid or custom grid patterns. Fixturing can be installed on individual tooling plates offline while the machine is running and swapped out when job changeover is needed. A center cavity enables installation of an accumulator vessel for hydraulic clamping applications. The columns are available in four-sided and six-sided versions in a variety of sizes as large as 40" square and 60" high.
