The MX7 CNC tool grinding system was developed for high flexibility and quick change-over to accommodate smaller batch sizes and high volume capability for production houses, the company says. In the untended mode, the grinding system can manufacture a variety of tools as large as 16 mm (5/8") in diameter. Designed for rapid processing of batches of precision tools, it offers 10-sec. automated wheel exchange and 10-sec. workpiece change with its integrated loader.

Its high output, enhanced flexibility and quick change-over ensures efficiency and support for lean manufacturing principles; and it does this at an attractive investment for faster ROI, the company says. Six standard HSK50 wheel packs offer production flexibility and the potential for unattended productivity.

Also, a permanent-magnet 20-kW (27-hp) (S1) 10,000-rpm spindle that delivers high torque at lower rpm, makes the tool grinding system suited for carbide grinding applications. Because of the lower current draw, the spindle generates less heat and less expansion, resulting in energy-efficient operation and improved accuracy. The integrated pallet loader changes workpiece tools within 10 sec.
