Hyundai WIA's Hi-MOLD65000 bridge type, high speed machining center is well-suited for precision machining due to the bridge design’s high rigidity and the generation of low heat, the company states. The head of the main axis moves up and down and left and right on the cross beam, while the table moves front to rear. To eliminate thermal growth during machining, all axes are driven by high-precision double-nut ballscrews, which feature internal cooling as an option. The double pretension design provides improved positioning and repeatability with virtually no thermal growth, the company says. All ballscrews are connected directly to the servodrive motors without gears or belts, to eliminate backlash.  Rapid high speed axis movement is achieved by the use of linear motion guideways. This reduces non-cutting time and decreases machining time for greater productivity. Rapid traverse rates are 40 m/min. in the X, Y and Z axes, and cutting speed is 24 m/min.

The main spindle is designed for high speed and high-precision machining at 15,000 rpm (20,000 rpm optional) with precise angular bearings providing high speed acceleration and deceleration for smooth machining. The built-in spindle design delivers little noise and vibration even at the highest rotational speeds, providing stable machining by minimizing thermal transmission to the main spindle. Through-spindle coolant guarantees stable machining and increases tool life by decreasing heat generation caused by high speed machining, particularly when executing deep hole machining. Spindle taper is Big Plus 40, spindle speed is 15,000 rpm (optional 20,000 rpm), spindle output is 30 hp (25 hp continuous), spindle torque is 123 foot-pounds, and spindle drive is built in.
