Rocklin Manufacturing’s Rocklinizer Model 850 features a rotary applicator for faster application of carbide. The machine deposits and impregnates wear-resistant electrode materials to metal surfaces for wear prevention and maintenance. It can also be used to prevent slug pull-back on die-casting dies, clamping dies, chuck jaws and more. The surface treatment is said to reduce the costs of perishable cutting tools, dies and accessories.
Three types of electrodes are available. Tungsten carbide electrodes are applied to high speed steel and other metal surfaces to prolong life and reduce wear; titanium carbide electrodes surface-seal carbide to prevent chipping; and "rockhard" electrode material is applied to reclaim undersized tools by restoring tolerances, for maintenance, and to provide gripping surfaces. According to the company, deposits are available from 0.0001" to 0.007" (0.0025 to 0.2 mm) in a single application, controllable within 0.0001" (0.0025 mm) by machine setting.
The unit comes equipped with a power unit, electrode package and instruction manual. Other features include touch-panel controls and a digital readout for deposit thickness and applicator speed. The portable unit weighs 35 lbs (16 kg).
