The GT-610 CNC centerless grinder from Glebar features a fully programmable CNC dresser that enables the user to form the wheel to custom geometries for high precision parts. The width of the wheel combined with the CNC dresser provides the capability to plunge grind multiple parts to high tolerances.
The grinder uses a grinding wheel 8 5/8" wide that is equipped with precision hollow roller bearings. A 6" diameter regulating wheel of the same width, also equipped with hollow roller bearings, provides control on the material being ground. This machine is also equipped with a 9"-diameter grinding wheel.
The machine is built on granite for stability and employs a servo-regulating wheel drive which eliminates vibrations for tight tolerances and a highly repeatable rate. The system features two independent slides to control the regulating wheel and the blade that holds the part being ground in place.
The CNC can easily integrate feeding systems and gauging, the company says. A laser gauge can be tied into the control to automatically compensate for size variation.
The compact system is best for precision grinding parts from 0.03" to 1.5" diameter, the company says. The machine can achieve diameter roundness measures of 0.00005". A high precision linear glass scale controls positioning to better than 0.1 micron. The machine is suitable for use in the aerospace, automotive and medical industries.
