Reid Supply Company has added two product lines: chrome-plated knobs and chrome-plated handles. They are said to be well-suited for both harsh weather and laboratory environments, as well as for general-machining applications on equipment that needs frequent cleaning cycles for hygienic reasons. According to the company, the chrome-plated surface is resistant to wear, scrapes and shocks.
The fiberglass-reinforced knobs are made from polyamide-based (PA) techno-polymer, and the chrome plating makes the surface finish semi-glossy and homogeneous to facilitate cleaning operations, the company says. The five-lobe shape enables operators to properly grip the knob, the company says. It also is said to prevent unhealthy residues from depositing because the solid shape contains no cavities.
