Siemens Industry’s Sinumerik Operate integrates HMI-Advanced, ShopMill and ShopTurn into a single machine tool user interface. It contains new functions that facilitate the setup and manufacture of complex workpieces.

Used for the company’s 828D and 840D sl CNCs, the single interface is said to enable fast sequence as well as high-level language programming and work preparation. The layout, with context-based functions and icons, facilitates handling for machine operators. Various kinematics are easy setup, while integrated simulations and different workplace views enable users to quickly check the programming. Users can also zoom into angled levels individually while a simulation is running.

The interface shows animated measurements for both switched and manual tool measurement features, and the Cycle 800 swivel cycle is designed to enable the manufacture of complex workpieces with simple and fast handling. Its tool and program management system features a configurable, structured tool list that displays relevant data.

ShopMill and ShopTurn sequence programming can be used to create custom programming solutions for the manufacture of individual parts and small batch sizes. The company’s programGuide combines G-code programming with cycle support for flexibility and short machining times.
