NUM Corporation says its Flexium CNC kernel with its soft PLC is well accepted by specialized machine tool builders because of its scalability. This characteristic enables OEMs to use the same control system across a range of machine designs. It can be applied to small machines with as many as five axes and spindles or much larger machines with as many as 200 axes. This flexibility appeals to smaller machine tool builders with limited R&D resources that need to create custom solutions quickly.
The company’s Flexium HMI will also be on display. The interface is adaptable, and can be programmed using standard tools such as HTML, JavaScript, or one of the PC-based rapid software development environments. According to the company, this flexibility makes it easy for users to add their own “look and feel” to machines, rather than settling for fixed user interfaces that can only be modified by the manufacturer.
