Okuma’s MCR-A5CII double-column machining center features multiple heads to machine all five sides of a part from a single setup. According to the company, this capability saves users time and money while reducing errors. The solid double-column construction is said to provide increased rigidity and improved tolerances, making the machine well-suited for rapid die and mold applications, as well as general parts machining.
The machining center is equipped with a ram-type spindle head, and the spindle provides speeds ranging to 4,000 rpm. The width between the columns ranges from 2,150 to 3,650 mm (84.65" to 143.70"), with an X axis ranging from 3,050 to 12,050 mm (120.08" to 474.41"), depending on the model. Rapid traverse rates are 30 m/min. in the X and Y axis, and 20 m/min. in the Z axis. Compact automatic loading and unloading attachments enable five-axis machining, while Okuma’s Thermo-Friendly Concept stabilizes thermal deformation and shortens warm-up times. The machining center is equipped with a THINC OSP P300 CNC control.
