Available from KGK International, Seibu’s M35B high-precision wire EDM provides X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 13.8" × 9.8" × 9.0" and is ideal for the machining of small to medium size parts. The machine is designed to deliver high material removal rates while holding a pitch accuracy of ±3 microns. Its rigid Meehanite castings are hand-scrapped for vibration-free axis movement. The FANUC 31iWB-series control contains over 4,000 cutting conditions, and the Windows graphical user interface makes it easy for operators to learn the control, according to Seibu.

The M35B wire EDM comes with the company’s dry annealing wire feeder, which passes an annealing current through the wire while it’s being pulled, straightening and stiffening it. Because of the dry annealing process, no water jet or other help is needed to assist wire threading. According to the company, the wire feeder is so reliable that it can consistently thread a 9" interrupted, submerged part at the wire break point.
