Tornos’ CT 20 automatic turning machine is equipped with a sliding headstock and accommodates 20-mm bars. Two versions of the machine are available with four or five linear axes. It can be equipped with two C axes to increase capacity. The five-axis version accommodates as many as 26 tools (10 rotating tools optional).
The turning machine accepts other equipment to adapt to the needs of the part to be produced. The increased flexibility enables components that once required complex machines and high investment levels to be produced on this machine, the company says.
To provide a quality surface finish and secure fit for the tools, the frame was constructed with cast iron. The machine’s four compartments can house devices such as radial drills, frontal drills, a thread-whirling tool and a polygon tool.
On the five-axis model, two rotating tools can be added on the secondary operation block, which enables the four tools on the single block to be motorized. The machine houses two driven drills for deep drilling, with the device using the counter spindle motorization.
