The Helido milling cutter family has been expanded for face milling applications, especially those in cast iron machining. The S865 FSN mill includes all features of the Helido family plus a 65-degreelead angle to reduce burrs and edge breakout that can complicate cast iron applications.
In addition to the lead angle, the cutters feature positive axial rake to reduce cutting forces and reduce power consumption at cutting depths as much as 8 mm, the company says. Double-sided inserts provide eight cutting edges for reduced tool cost per edge. Cutting edges are helical to decrease impact forces at entry and foster a cleaving-type cutting action. A 0.079” flat wiper behind the cutting edge helps improve surface finish. The face milling cutters feature direct coolant delivery to each insert. They are available in standard and fine pitch and in diameters from 2” to 5”.
