Hermle will demonstrate its C 42 UMT, a C-series five-axis machining center. The C 22 and C 30 will also be demonstrated.
The C 42 UMT is representative of the company’s MT series, which provides simultaneous milling and turning in up to five axes. Rapid traverse is 800 × 800 × 500 mm in the X, Y and Z axes, respectively, and a 10,000-rpm spindle is standard (15,000, 18,000 and 25,000 rpm optional). The 42-position toolchanger enables flexibility in multiple part manufacturing, and chip-to-chip time is 4.5 sec. Tool options include Heidenhain iTNC 530 and Siemens S 840 D SL.
C 22 is constructed on a mineral- cast base with a modified gantry design. X-, Y- and Z-axis travel is 450 × 600 × 330 mm, respectively, and standard spindle speed is 15,000 rpm (18,000, 30,000 and 42,000 optional). The pick-up style toolchanger can accommodate between 55 and 65 tools. Available controls include the Heidenhain iTNC 530 or Siemens S 840 D SL.
The C 30, designed for applications in the nominal 600 mm cube, also features the cast mineral base and modified gantry design. X, Y and Z traverse is 650 × 600 × 500 mm, respectively, and chip-to-chip time ranges from 4.5 sec. in the dynamic version to 5.5 sec. in the standard version. Standard speed is 10,000 rpm (18,000, 28,000 and 40,000 rpm optional). The toolchanger features 32 positions, and control options include Heidenhain iTNC 530 and Siemens S 840 D.
