Modern Machine Shop
Hurco’s new VMX42SRT five-axis machining center features a direct-drive C-axis rotary table and swivel head/rotary table design with a flush, embedded rotary table that offers a larger work cube. For five-axis parts, the embedded rotary table supports taller parts due to more than 3.5 additional inches in the Z axis. For three-axis work, the increased table size supports parts up to 42" x 24". The machine has X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 42" x 24" x 24"; a 12,000-rpm standard spindle; a 40-station swing-arm ATC; X-, Y- and Z-axis rapids of 1,378, 1,378 and 1,181 ipm, respectively; and an integrated Hurco control that includes both conversational and NC programming modes.
In addition to the new brand launch and six new machine models, Hurco will announce the official release of the company’s UltiMotion technology for five-axis machining centers. First introduced on three-axis mills, UltiMotion simultaneously improves surface finish quality and reduces cycle time by as much as 30 to 40 percent, according to the company.
