Five-Axis Tool Grinder Offers Large Grind Zone, Small Footprint
IMTS 2018: Star SU’s NXT tool grinder is designed for large-machine capabilities with a small footprint.
Star SU’s NXT tool grinder is designed to provide large-machine capabilities in a small footprint. The five-axis CNC tool grinder has few moving parts, a large grind zone, the ability to run small- and large-diameter wheels, easily configurable options, and a modular design.
The grinder features a 28-kW synchronous spindle that runs at 20,000 rpm, and it holds tools ranging to 250 mm. The grinder’s linear and rotary torque motor technology is said to eliminate backlash, friction effects and drive vibration. FANUC robot automation, gripper assembly ranging from 3 to 38 mm and NumrotoPlus grinding software are included.
