Mazak will feature its VC-500A/5X vertical machining center capable of full five-axis machining with a trunnion-style rotary/tilt table that enables accurate cost-effective processing of small, complex parts. The machine’s table tilts ±110 degrees in the B axis and rotates 360 degrees in the C axis while accommodating workpiece weights ranging to 440 lbs.

The machine is equipped with a robust, high-performance CAT 40, 12,000-rpm spindle that delivers high metal removal capabilities in all common materials like steel, aluminum and cast iron. A 30-tool capacity tool magazine helps reduce setup time, allows for redundant tooling and enables more unmanned uninterrupted operations.

The machine features the company’s Mazatrol SmoothX CNC, easing programming in either EIA or Mazatrol conversational modes and enables overall faster part cycle times, the company says. The control has several advanced functions that include High Gain Feed Forward Control, Fast Rotary Axis Speeds, Variable Acceleration Control and Intelligent Pocket Milling.
