The space-saving DMU 60 eVo five-axis machine from DMG/Mori Seiki is designed to manufacture complex workpieces in the aircraft and medical industries. A gantry construction in which the X and Y axes are placed in the upper part of the machine minimizes spindle overhang and increases stability and rigidity, which increases precision. The Y‐axis saddle and the rounded design for the front of the machine also provide efficient setups and accessibility to the working area from two sides, the company says.
Load capacity of the 600 × 500 mm swivel rotary table is 400 kg. To accommodate a range of applications, the machine features a swivel range of -5 to +110 degrees. The machine uses a ballscrew drive for the X and Y axes (rapid traverse rate of 50 m/min), and an optional linear motor drive (rapid traverse rate of 80 m/min) is available to increase efficiency.
