Friction Coating Doubles Magnetic Grip

A new friction coating from WENmagnetics increases the friction between part and chuck by a factor of 2x. The proprietary coating is engineered to work with the magnet to maintain pull and the net result is twice the holding force.

Sliding a part during machining is not desirable – it is usually a direct road to scrap. For large parts, sliding on a magnet is a remote possibility since the magnetic forces are high – big parts stay put. The problems arise with small parts, for example mold inserts on 5-axis machines.
