Using ThinBit Form-A-Groove tooling, form tools can be customized to generate complex profiles in a single plunge. The tools can consist of combinations of simple grooves or more complex combinations of grooves, arcs, angles, convex and concave radii. Tools can be composed of stacks of individual inserts or a single carbide block as wide as 2". Company application engineers specify the tooling design according to the customer’s requirements. 

 

The tools can simplify programming, increase production and free tool locations for other tools, the company says. Toolholders are available in 1.0" round and 0.5", 0.75" and 1.0" square for internal and external applications. The tools can be coated with TiN, TiCN, TiAlN or diamond film coatings.
