Heidenhain opens its TNC-CNC Academy in the Chicago area. The expanded CNC training center is available for users of all levels, including those interested in five-axis machining. All classes are taught by Heidenhain specialists with years of CAM experience.

Located in Heidenhain’s Illinois headquarters, the expanded training facility includes dedicated areas called the Applied Technology Center (ATC) and the Interactive Training Room (ITR). The ATC houses various machine tools equipped with Heidenhain TNC controls for hands-on use. The ITR is a dedicated controls classroom with individual monitors and training materials.

The company states that completing these classes will allow TNC users to improve their efficiency and the accuracy of the parts they machine by going beyond the standard features and functions provided by a CAM postprocessor. The academy offers service classes for service teams to practice troubleshooting and repairs of Heidenhain components on real machine tools, including practice on five-axis high precision machining centers equipped with spindle speeds of up to 42,000 rpm.

A list of multi-level classes is available here. These include basic CNC training, in-depth training sessions on new Heidenhain control software upgrades, postprocessor optimization and specialized classes for connected machining and in-process inspection.
