Waldman’s Lumatris luminaires are available in 90 or 180 LEDs to provide various-sized work areas with homogenous, wide-area lighting. The lights are designed to suppress glare and increase efficiency. The luminaire can be switched to half or full power, depending on the task at hand. For half power, every other LED is switched off. In contrast to dimming, this technique produces no hazardous stroboscopic effect and increases machine safety. A built-in economy mode is said to provide additional energy savings.
The LEDs used in the luminaires have a color-rendering index of Ra > 80. According to the company, the LEDs can last for up to 50,000 hours and offer flicker-free light with no UV or IR component. The luminaire has a protection rating of IP68-1m and IPX9K. It features a housing of anodized aluminum and 4-mm-thick safety glass, making it well-suited for harsh environments, the company says. The luminaire is said to be resistant to many types of coolants and lubricants. It offers burn protection with a low surface temperature of maximum 58° C, and the housing itself is designed for high ambient temperatures ranging to 45° C.
The flat luminaire can be built-in or externally mounted. Different types of connections are available for integrating the unit into the machine. It can be directly connected to 24 VDC without additional components. Other mounting accessories, such as a swivel mount, are available for customized solutions. The intelligent electronics are protected against polarity reversal. Electrical connection can be on the side or rear to stay out of the way regardless of the type of mounting.
