The GE90H HMC is designed for high-volume metal removal in steel and aluminum. The machining center can accommodate workpieces as large as 39.3" in diameter, 51" tall and weighing as much as 2,645 lbs. The 10,000-rpm, 40.2-hp spindle delivers 420 Nm of torque at the cut, the company says. Its X, Y, and Z axes measure 39.4" × 35.4" × 41.3" respectively, and sit atop oversized cross-roller linear guideways for rigidity. The spindle, ballscrews and servomotor mounts are temperature controlled within ±1ºC of ambient for increased accuracy through thermal stability, the company says. With its large travels, 630-mm pallet and 50-taper spindle, the machining center is sized for airframe components, valves and parts for the mold and die industry.
