The machine features high-speed drives to accommodate high speed steel and carbide hobs. Designed for dry or wet hobbing, the work area design ensures that dry chips or cutting residue are effectively removed.
The machine can be customized for specific application requirements with automatic loading and conveyor options. In addition to regular hobbing processes, the 400H employs process options for form milling and gashing, cutting of multiple or cluster gears, skive hobbing, and more. Optionally, the machine can be equipped for integrated chamfering and deburring.
The hobbing machine is fitted with either dry- or wet-chip evacuation systems as well as dust or mist filter options. The ergonomically-designed work area is easily accessible and includes a simple tool-change mechanism, according to the company. The integrated power clamping system allows for the use of a range of workholding systems including the Gleason Quik-Flex Plus workpiece changes in less than 30 sec.
