Nagel Precision offers the ECO H horizontal flexible honing machine designed for low volume job shops. The machine consists of three servodrives and AB PLC and AB operator panel, and can hone up to 40 mm bores.
The honing spindle is driven by a 3 hp, 4,000 rpm servomotor. Heavy duty precision ballscrews reach stroking speeds greater than 25 m/min. and have maximum travel range of 250 mm.
The tool expansion system is controlled by an AB servo. Servo control enables the tool to expand rapidly during the rough stock removal phase and slow down during towards the end of the cycle to yield better cycle times and bore quality, the company says. The system has the ability to store multiple part programs.
The wear can be compensated quickly by a press of a button in the operator panel based on an offline gage reading. Fully enclosed guarding ensures dry floor conditions and a safety light curtain protects operators from injury.
The system is designed for diamond/CBN superabrasives, but conventional abrasives can also be used. In addition, the machine can accept tools from other manufacturers.
