Measuring Max Feed
To estimate just how much feed rate the combination of machine tool and control system is capable of realizing effectively, perform a ball-bar test at various feeds.
Program the circular path for the ball-bar test using many short linear segments. Run the test at progressively higher feed rates until you discover the feed rate at which the level of precision is no longer acceptable.
