The DryLin WJRM hybrid linear bearing system from Igus combines rolling and sliding motion to reduce drive force in applications involving the manual adjustment of machine guard doors, partitions and adjustable locks. The system consists of a plastic, self-lubricating sliding sleeve bearing and a polymer roller. The roller bearing carries the main load, reducing the required driving force by a factor of 4 to 5, the company says. The system can be used with machine doors weighing as much as 110 lbs.
