General Inspection’s redesigned Gi-100DT features a dial table-style glass top designed to promote workpiece stability enabling improved image analysis, data capturing and precision. The inspection machine is primarily intended for sorting flat workpieces that have more than a 2:1 length to diameter ratio such as nuts, valve spring retainers, rivets, bushings and washers. According to the company, the machine is capable of achieving speeds ranging to 1,000 parts per minute, though most parts average about 400 parts per minute.

Multiple sensors can be added to the machine, including eddy current, laser topography and multiple vision stations with the company’s specialty lenses. The eddy current station ensures that the operator checks for metallurgical defects such as cracks, missing plating or hardness variations. The laser topography station shows a 3D profile of the workpieces and can measure diameters and heights, as well as detect defects such as chips, dents and flatness. Vision stations can be added to detect defects like chips in the ID, nylon ring presence, chips in grooves, cracks, missing crimp, missing or damaged internal threads on deep threaded holes, missing or damaged weld projections.
