Rollomatic LaserSmart laser cutting and ablation machine is designed to offer a more cost-effective, higher-quality way of producing PCD, CBN and chemical vapor deposited (CVD) cutting tools. It is well-suited for the aerospace and automotive industries.

 

Laser cutting is said to achieve a surperfine cutting edge with a surface finish that cannot be achieved by grinding. The cutting/ablation machine produces sharp cutting edges and an improved surface finish for increased tool life and higher feed rates during machining, the company says. The machine can manufacture chip form geometries in PCD, and laser ablation enables the freedom to optimize tool geometries.
