Optodyne has developed a laser vector technique for the measurement of 3D volumetric positioning errors in machine tools. According to the company, 12 sets of errors can be measured in a few hours, instead of over a few days by a conventional laser interferometer. The measured results can be used to compensate the 3D volumetric positioning errors by modifying the part program or G code. In addition, calibrating only the part volume is said to enable the collection of more compensation points in a smaller volume, resulting in higher accuracy and less measurement time. 

 
The MCV-5002 laser calibration package for the aerospace industry will also be displayed.
