Q. We manufacture bronze doors and are using Agate Lacquer to clear-coat the bronze door skins. We have a good finish and paint booth, but we are having problems getting a clean surface. We wipe down the surface with lacquer thinner using microfiber cloths but get very small lint, fibers and specks in the finish. We do not seem to be able to get the surface clean. Do you have any suggestions? —S.D.
A. Generally speaking, microfiber cloths are considered to be lint-free. I would evaluate a new microfiber cloth directly out of the bag or box on one door to verify its performance. If you cannot even get one door complete without leaving residual lint, you may need to either check the incoming cleanliness of the part (it may need a pre-cleaning), or you may need to search for a new precision-cleaning cloth supplier.
