The C4T live center features a proprietary bearing isolator seal designed exclusively for the company by Inpro/Seal. The center is said to have at least three times the service life of standard centers, and the non-contacting, frictionless seal will not wear out under normal use, the company says.

Normal use includes demanding service with high-horsepower lathes and grinders, and applications involving extreme coolant pressures. In all applications, the center has accuracy of ±0.00005" TIR.

The bearing isolator seal is a compound mechanical labyrinth with dual flow paths: The inner section retains and recirculates the bearing lubricant, while the outer path captures outside contamination and expels it through a port.
