Schunk’s Magnos magnetic chuck enables all five sides of a workpiece to be machined simultaneously in one setup. In addition, the workpiece can be clamped quickly, without requiring fine adjustment of the clamping elements or setup change, reducing machine downtime.

According to the company, the magnetic clamping force is applied uniformly across the entire workpiece, minimizing vibrations, and improving surface finishes and precision, yet the clamping force is gentle and safe enough for thin-walled or sensitive workpieces.

The workholding system can be used on virtually any type of machine and does not depend on specific system interfaces, and workpieces of virtually any structure and form can be clamped using pole extensions. The pole extensions adapt to the contours of the workpiece and support it, enabling it to be machined from all five sides.
