Losma USA will feature its Darwin line of centrifugal mist collectors. With throughputs from 353 to 1,767 cfm (600 to 3,000 cubic meters per hour), the line’s wide flow-rate range makes it a suitable mist collection system for all kinds of machine tools, from small lathes and grinding machines to large machining centers.
The line's operating principle involves the use of centrifugal force to push oil mists through an annular filter medium. Collected oil is sent back to the machine tool through a drainage pipe.
Three centrifugal designs are available to meet different application needs. A turbine filters air containing soluble mists and heavy particulate; typical applications include abrasive grinding and sharpening processes. A single centrifuge design is suitable for soluble mists produced by general machining operations. A double centrifuge design filters neat oil mists and vapors produced by general machining operations.
The line features flexible options for mounting in various configurations. For example, the collectors can be mounted vertically and horizontally. The units support more than 150 configurations with pre- and post-filter stages that can adapt these filters to a variety of mists and particulate types.
