Recognizing the growing role of small machined features in the success of many shops, MMS Online has expanded and redesigned the area of our site that is dedicated to Micromachining. One of the significant new features is an “Ask an Expert” link where you can directly pose your own specific micromachining-related questions to an R&D team leader who has worked on numerous machining applications involving tiny parts and microscopic features.

Contents in the zone are divided by topic—Milling and Drilling; Turning; and EDM and Laser. In addition to a library of print articles on various micromachining topics and applications, the zone also features several videos. Two videos featured prominently in the zone offer tutorials on appropriate cutting tool length-to-diameter ratio, as well as how to efficiently machine smooth surfaces using tiny tools.
