Multi-Grip Collet Reduces Cycle Times, Increases Rigidity

IMTS 2018: Speedgrip’s multi-grip collet is capable of gripping multiple bores simultaneously for parts that are turned, faced or bored.

Speedgrip’s multi-grip collet is capable of gripping multiple bores simultaneously for parts that are turned, faced or bored. The collet provides a 360-degree grip and a strong pullback action, as an alternative to a three-jaw chuck with three-point contact. The double-taper collet is ground for one bore size on one end and the other bore size on the other. As each end of the tapered collet expands, it grips its respective bore and continues to move until both bores are gripped simultaneously, with equal pressure, with a strong pullback action. The tolerance of the bores can vary. The collet is said to provide greater part engagement, rigidity and operation feasibility. It eliminates chatter and enables more aggressive machining, reducing cycle times and machining more parts per shift.
