Optics System Clears Up Uncertainty in Shaft Measurement

Quality Vision International’s TurnCheck system addresses sources of uncertainty in shaft measurement by focusing on advanced optics, thermal stability and ease of use.

The TurnCheck system from Quality Vision International (QVI) addresses sources of uncertainty in shaft measurement by focusing on advanced optics, thermal stability and ease of use. Its illumination system produces collimated light with a constant wavelength, eliminating the wrap-around effect on turned parts. The receiving optics are telecentric, with each element designed to eliminate distortion. The result is a uniformly magnified image with no edge effects or exclusion zones.

The system is designed to mitigate the effects of thermal variation found in shopfloor environments and to deliver accurate measurements in conditions where vibration is common. Users do not need to adjust lighting, focus, or image tools because the system optimizes these features automatically. Its controls and tools, designed for ease of use, facilitate fast setup without extensive operator training, according to the company. QVI offers the TurnCheck system in three different models to accommodate parts ranging to 1,200 mm in length.
