Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence introduces the Romer Absolute Arm portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) product line with the addition of the 77 series. The series is designed to provide high accuracy for precision 3D measurement applications in safety-critical industries such as aerospace, defense, medical and more. According to the company, the PCMM achieves nearly a 20 percent improvement in scanning accuracy and a 15 percent improvement in touch-probe measurement accuracy over the 75 Series. It is available in five sizes ranging from 2.5 m to 4.5 m measuring volumes. The standard 3,000 N magnetic base offers mounting options for various applications and part sizes.

According to the company, the 77 series can be switched on and used immediately without warm-up or referencing. Probe changes can also be made without recalibration to maximize flexibility. Acoustic and haptic operator feedback facilitate usage in harsh shopfloor environments.

Alongside the 73 and 75 Series, the 77 series offers a three-level product range, enabling customers to choose the right machine for specific application requirements. Like the 73 and 75 Series, the 77 Series is compatible with all Hexagon laser scanners, including the RS3 integrated scanner and the HP-L-20.8 and HP-L-8.9 external units. All arms are available in six- and seven-axis configurations. The six-axis models are ideal for touch-probe measurement, while the seven-axis design is well suited for high-speed laser scanning.
