Power Chuck for Gear Blanks
The Rota NCR six-jaw power chuck from Schunk is designed for machining thin-walled, easily deformed workpieces.
The Rota NCR six-jaw power chuck from Schunk is designed for machining thin-walled, easily deformed workpieces. The chuck consists of a central chuck piston with master jaws oscillating in pairs for concentric clamping. Clamping is achieved by inserting the attachment bolt in the piston. The six-point contact enables even pre-machined parts to be clamped without deformation, the company says. A pendulum is connected to each set of two-case jaws arranged opposite on another so that the workpieces is centered between the six points of contact. The clamping forces align toward the center of the chuck, enabling maximum roundness of workpieces with conventional jaw clamping. For certain applications such as finish machining or clamping pre-machined surfaces, the pendulums can be clamped in their center position. In this configuration, all six clamping jaws move simultaneously and concentrically. The chuck is available in 165-, 210-, 250- and 315-mm sizes.
