Esab Cutting Systems’ Hydrocut LX (shown here on display at IMTS 2014) is a combination waterjet and plasma cutting system. Operators are able to achieve the high accuracy of waterjet machining when necessary, but can rely on the high speed and low cost of plasma whenever possible.
Flow International’s DynaBeam laser sensing system for waterjets maps the state of materials, reducing the need for manual adjustment and helping to improve accuracy.
Knuth Laser-Jet 1512 and 2512 laser cutting machines can be equipped with either a CO2 or fiber laser to handle a range of applications. They are best suited to single-part and small-batch production.
According to Omax, its 100-hp EnduroMax direct-drive pump offers as much power at the nozzle as a 135-hp intensifier pump. The pump is also said to offer a smoother jet stream while using less electricity and water.
Miyachi America’s Sigma Femtosecond laser tube-cutting system is well-suited to cutting medical devices such as tubes and stents. Its nearly cold cutting process makes it possible to cut fine features into thin material.
The Tsugami S206-II Swiss-type lathe available from Rem Sales is equipped with a IMG 400LS laser cutting system. Offering both six-axis Swiss machining and laser cutting capabilities, the machine is particularly well-suited for the production of small cylindrical medical parts.
Rollomatic’s LaserSmart laser cutting and ablation machine achieves fine cutting edges on PCD, CBN and CVD tools by slicing through the crystal, leaving a portion of the crystal in the matrix to produce a sharp cutting edge.
Trumpf’s TruLaser Cell 3000 enables cost-effective laser cutting and welding of both 2D and 3D components. The laser’s focal point can be easily matched to the thickness of sheet metal and its diameter can also be expanded, which the company says is particularly useful in welding operations.
Wardjet’s WardKit waterjets are a kit form of the company’s WardJet Emerald series. The kit waterjets feature components that are virtually identical to the Emerald waterjets but at a cost savings of as much as 40 percent.
The Laserdyne 430 series laser cutting systems are available with three to six axes and can be equipped with Prima Power Laserdyne’s BeamDirector for advanced motion and process control capabilities.
