Phillips Precision offers its Inspection Arsenal Loc-N-Load fixture system for coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The fixture system can now be equipped with air assist, which enables inspectors to glide heavy parts across the fixture plate and inspect them using the magnetic quick-swap system. The air-glide feature can be added to the standard 12" × 18" fixture plate, with additional special-order plate sizes of 18" × 18", 18" × 24", 24" × 24" and 24" × 36" also available.
The fixture system includes docking rails, fixture plates and end caps in various sizes in addition to a plate for the qualifying ball bar and an angle plate. The hole pattern seamlessly integrates when interlocked. Plates can be ordered individually or in preconfigured, bundled systems which include workholding kits.
The system enables customers to add plates as needed as part of a lean concept. According to the company, an infinite number of setups can be swapped in and out quickly to increase the number of parts inspected per shift.
