Blum-Novotest offers a radio-wave variant as part of its line of part probes, tool probes and bore gages. The probe line is designed for situations in which normal line-of-sight infrared transmission is not possible, such as on five-axis machines, large gantries and deep cavities. The line uses a push button to pair the device with the machine and enables as many as six probes on one machine. BRC radio technology transmits a signal over a wide range within a 2.4 GHz bandwidth instead of using a particular frequency, the company says. This range is designed to eliminate interference from frequencies that might appear within the transmission band, keeping the probe in constant communication with the machine.
