A rubber chuck by Northfield Precision Instruments is designed to grip automotive “rubber coupling” drive shaft joints. A small collet in the center of the chuck grips a 14-mm ID to an accuracy of less than 0.0001" TIR. Three extended fingers pass through three bolt holes, expand and “face clamp” only, simulating “bolting” the flange in place the way it is used in the vehicles. Drive shafts are balanced from 3,500 rpm to more than 6,000 rpm.
