Made specifically to cut high-alloy rails for the railroad industry, the Amsaw R-series saw from Advanced Machine & Engineering is designed to produce smooth, accurate cuts for improved efficiency and productivity. It also is designed to be durable for increased tool life.

The combined saw/drill features a saw blade change-over time of less than 3 min. and hardened spindle gears ground for minimum backlash. A saw-blade guide and damping device stabilizes the blade for accurate cutting, the company says. The saw/drill features a low-maintenace design and can be used in dry operation in which no coolant is needed. An electronic overload device monitors cutting performance and stops the saw feed when necessary. The heavy, welded machine base is ribbed and braced for rigidity, and a chip conveyor transports chips to the rear of the machine for deposit into a tote box.

The saw/drill offers flexible setup. It can be combined with an integrated or in-line rail-hole drill machine for bolted joints at the rail ends and with in-feed and out-feed material handling systems.
