Shank Attachments for Angle Heads Accommodate Deep Cavities

IMTS 2018: Tecnara’s line includes angle heads designed for light-duty work, heavy-duty work and short runs, as well as shank attachments for NSK angle heads.

Tecnara offers shank attachments for use with compact, high-speed NSK compact angle heads. Featuring integrated air/oil lubrication, the shanks can handle speeds ranging to 20,000 rpm, while a compact design facilitates machining of deep and small-diameter cavities. Available shank styles are CAT40, CAT50, BT30, HSK63, HSK100 and C6.

Also on display are the company’s MST Modular series angle heads. Featuring a modular design that provides interchangeability among shanks and heads, these units are said to be particularly usefulfor short-run jobs. A wide range of projection lengths and collets are available. Angle heads measure either 45 degrees or 90 degrees. Miniature angle heads for tight-space applications are also available as are 2", 4" and 6" extensions. In select models, modular series attachments are available with coolant-through cutting tools. 

Designed for heavy-duty cutting, MST Solid series angle heads can be switched among machines with the same taper and flange. Equipped with an orientation ring and key, they can be set for any cutting direction. Flange Series heads are available in three angle-shaft configurations: collet chuck, BT30 and CAT40 master-holder type. According to the company, accuracy of 0.0002" T.I.R. at the cavity is guaranteed. MST Flange heads bolt onto the spindle face for maximum rigidity.

The MST Half series of angle heads are designed for light-duty operations, including drilling, tapping and milling. The Half Mini is lightweight and slim. With a maximum ¼" chucking capacity, the it fits into IDs as small as 1.42". Half Universal angle heads can cut any angle from 0 degrees to 360 degrees and 0 to ±120°. All Half Series angle heads are available in CAT, BT, HSK, Capto and KM shaft configurations.
