For the first time, Faro Technologies (leader in portable CMMs) and Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology (leader in bridge-type CMMs) are sharing an IMTS booth to demonstrate how manufacturers can benefit from their complementary precision measurement technologies. This includes equipment such as Carl Zeiss’ compact O-Inspect 322 bridge-type CMM that offers both optical and contact measuring capabilities, and Faro’s portable Edge ScanArm that produces a nearly four-inch-wide measuring laser stripe. These are just two of many inspection and reverse-engineering solutions you’ll find in the East Hall at Booth E-5504.

To highlight the multiple ways in which the companies’ equipment works together in facilities throughout the country, the Pratt & Miller/Corvette Racing Team’s Corvette (co-sponsored by Faro and Carl Zeiss) is parked in the middle of their shared booth. Pratt & Miller used Faro and Carl Zeiss solutions throughout the design and assembly of the car that won its class in the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

“Leading design and manufacturing companies like Pratt & Miller need the best-performing metrology tools available,” notes Greg Lee, Carl Zeiss president. “We feel that the network of solutions offered by Carl Zeiss and Faro covers the widest range of high-value applications on the market today.”

“We’re excited to work with our colleagues at Carl Zeiss and demonstrate a spectrum of solutions that help customers reduce waste, shorten workflows and lower their costs,” says David Morse, Faro’s senior vice president/managing director. “The two companies share the joint promise of enabling our customers to improve efficiency.”
