SMTCL Hosts 200 at Technology Event
The two-day event in March presented eight machine tool demos and several seminars.
SMTCL Americas held a two-day open house event at its Los Angeles, California, Technical Center March 23-24. The theme of the event was “Heavy Metal” and presented eight machine-cutting demonstrations to over 200 attendees. Additionally, the open house included seminars on tooling technology, high-speed machining, high-pressure coolant, CNC controls, and ways to automate a machine tool.
Technology companies that joined the event and displayed products included ChipBlaster, Kennametal, Siemens, FANUC, Surfcam, Detron and VersaBuilt. Cal-Poly Pomona’s Society of Automotive Engineers racing team also brought its Baja and Formula cars to demonstrate how they use SMTCL’s CNC technology.
SMTCL COO Jerry McCarty says, “These events are great in that I get to spend some time with our customers and they can see new developments in our industry. It is rare that a customer can come into one facility and see CNC boring mills, CNC horizontal lathes, vertical machining centers, tapping centers, radial drills and engine lathes all under one roof.”
